I'm excited to be the next stop on the Destined Blog Tour hosted by Good Choice Reading. Today there is a guest post by the author, Jessie Harrell plus a chance to win an ebook of Destined.
When Psyche receives a prophecy gone horribly wrong, she learns that even the most beautiful girl in Greece can have a hideous future. Her fate? Fall in love with the one creature even the gods fear.
As she feels herself slipping closer into the arms of the prophecy, Psyche must choose between the terrifyingly tender touch she feels almost powerless to resist and the one constant she's come to expect out of life: you cannot escape what is destined.
Destined is a fresh and heartachingly romantic retelling of the Cupid & Psyche myth from debut novelist, Jessie Harrell.
Day-to-day, I tend to listen to satellite radio. The Pulse (modern) or The Coffeehouse (acoustic) are my favorites. When I really need to focus at work, I'll switch over to some classical music, but those instances are rare since it also tends to make me sleepy.
When writing Destined, I kept a playlist of special songs just for Eros & Psyche that I listed to over and over again and really inspired the writing. I think you'll find most of the songs are soulful, often sad, mostly romantic, and the words typically fit with the emotions at the heart of Destined. The notable exception is "Crack the Shutters" by Snow Patrol - it's the last song on my playlist. This song is specifically for the Epilogue and is the happiest and most up-beat song on the track. If it sounds out of place with the rest, it is. But I love it and if Destined were ever a movie, this song would close it out as Eros & Psyche fade to the credits.
Here's the playlist. Like I tell everyone, if you like the songs as much as I do, please support the artists and buy them!
I hope some of you will hum along to these songs as you're reading Destined. Maybe try to guess which song I imagined matching up to which scene. And for a chance to get an early copy of Destined, just leave your name and e-mail address in the comments below. One person who comments by midnight EST will win an e-ARC of Destined (in either .mobi for Kindle, .epub for Nook or .pdf for computer viewing). To learn more about Destined, please visit my website and my blog. Don't forget to add Destined to your TBR pile on Goodreads too or even pre-order it on Amazon.
Thank you so much for stopping by Jessie. Check out the Destined blog tour schedule throughout November here for chances to win copies of Destined and other goodies.
